EXCLUSIVE: Duke and Duchess of Sussex Accused of Seeking to Preserve Royal Image Amid Celebrity Pursuits

A royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, has asserted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, known by their royal titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are actively working to uphold the perception of royalty while being likened to celebrities or reality stars.

In an interview with Daily Express US, Schofield stated, “Engaged royal watchers would likely categorize Harry and Meghan as celebrities or reality stars.” She emphasized the significance of perception, noting that to the people they aim to impress, the couple remains royal.

Schofield labeled Prince Harry’s involvement in dropping the puck at a Vancouver Canucks game as a “faux royal engagement” and contended that the Sussexes are making efforts to visually sustain the royal aesthetic.

According to the expert, Harry and Meghan insist on being referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in public to “maintain the perception of royalty.” Schofield drew a parallel between their approach and that of Sarah, Duchess of York, who came to America to enhance her celebrity status and leverage her association with the royals for financial gain.

“Sarah partnered with Oprah Winfrey several times, produced Hollywood films, wrote books, and even appeared as a product pusher on one of the home shopping networks,” Schofield noted, highlighting the similarities in the paths taken by both royal figures.
