Last Tuesday, a disturbing incident unfolded near Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of a notorious school shooting in US history. A video capturing the assault shows four high school students slamming a teenage boy onto concrete, resulting in a cracked skull for the victim.

In the video, one teen boy hoists the victim onto his shoulder and forcefully throws him onto the ground, causing the victim’s head to hit the concrete. Onlookers, including students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and Coral Glades High School, gasp in disbelief as the victim lies facedown. Concerned voices are heard urging someone to check if the victim is breathing.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Three Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, Jordan Thompson (16), Caleb Hensley (17), and Sylvester Hicks Jr (16), along with Coral Glades High School student Chinua Leefatt (15), were arrested and charged with felony battery. They have been taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

Jahmeer Beautziel, another suspect involved in the incident, has not yet been apprehended. The charges filed against the arrested students reflect the gravity of their actions, according to the Coral Springs police.

The assault victim, recovering at home, has been reported to have a fractured skull. Patrick Fox, a friend of the victim, stated that the assault began with the victim being chased, and by the time he left, the victim was being transported in an ambulance.

An ongoing investigation is in progress, with authorities emphasizing the community’s safety and asserting that such behavior will not be tolerated. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, scarred by a tragic shooting on February 14, 2018, where 17 lives were lost, remains a poignant reminder of the need for vigilance and prevention of violence in educational institutions.
