Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exclusive partnership with Netflix forged as part of their move away from the Royal Family, is reportedly at risk of termination, and experts suggest the couple might be more dependent on the streaming giant than they realize.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a monumental £80 million ($100 million) five-year deal with Netflix, releasing impactful content such as a revealing series about their experiences in the Royal Family and the Heart of Invictus documentary. Live to Lead, featuring stories from figures like Greta Thunberg and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is also part of their Netflix portfolio. However, as their deal approaches its end next year, it remains uncertain if the couple will extend their collaboration with the platform.

PR expert Ryan McCormick emphasizes the importance of maintaining the Netflix deal for Harry and Meghan, as the platform boasts a massive audience of around 247.2 million paid subscribers worldwide as of the third quarter of 2023.

McCormick, speaking exclusively to The Mirror, underscores the potential PR consequences if the couple fails to secure an extension, stating, “This is a deal that they cannot afford to lose. I highly recommend they do everything possible to win the hearts and minds of Netflix executives because if they don’t, it’s going to be a PR disaster for them.”

He also suggests the need for improvement in the couple’s social media presence, pointing out the lack of activity on their Instagram page since 2020 and the absence of official accounts on other platforms.

Furthermore, McCormick highlights a missed opportunity to build a direct connection with their followers through a mailing list on their official site, emphasizing the importance of fostering a long-term bond with their audience.

Expressing concern about the couple’s vulnerability in the court of public opinion, McCormick advises immediate action, stating, “Meghan and Harry should immediately put a mailing list sign up so they can be contacted.”

In conclusion, the expert underscores the significance of salvaging the Netflix deal, as its loss could pose challenges in securing a similar arrangement with another streaming platform, potentially impacting the couple’s sustained public attention and support.
