King Charles and Queen Camilla pleasantly surprised royal enthusiasts by sharing a new behind-the-scenes video on their official Instagram account to usher in 2024.

The video, showcasing highlights from the past year, includes footage from the King’s “Carriage Cam.” In one clip, the King converses with Queen Camilla in the carriage en route to the State Opening of Parliament in November. Waving to crowds along The Mall after departing Buckingham Palace, the royal couple’s carriage procession is featured prominently.

This footage is at the core of the monarch’s first tweet of 2024, summarizing his accomplishments and responsibilities in the UK and Commonwealth throughout 2023.

While the King and Queen are prominently featured, the video also includes glimpses of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Notably absent are Prince Harry, despite attending his father’s Coronation in May, and Prince Andrew.

The video showcases various public figures, including Rishi Sunak, Gareth Southgate, and other political figures. A significant moment highlighted is King Charles’ successful trip to Kenya last year.

Accompanying the video, the King’s X account (formerly Twitter) expressed gratitude for the warm welcomes received in 2023 and extended wishes for a happy 2024.

The video captures moments from the King and Queen’s Coronation in May 2023, as well as featuring Princess Anne, recognized as one of the hardest-working royals, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Concluding the year, on December 31, the King and Queen joyfully attended their final engagement of 2023. Spending the festive period at the Sandringham estate, they were joined by other royals, including Prince Andrew, during their walk to St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Christmas Day. On New Year’s Eve, the couple received greetings from the Bishop of Norwich, the Right Reverend Graham User, and Reverend Canon Dr. Paul Rhys Williams.
