In an unfortunate incident in the Black Country, a 45-year-old woman was left injured after her handbag was forcefully stolen on Regent Street in Bilston. The assailant, described as a black man in his 20s-30s with a mustache and goatee beard, approached her from behind at approximately 12.40 pm on Monday, January 29.

The woman reportedly fell to the ground as the man swiftly snatched her handbag, containing a substantial amount of money and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. The bag was later discovered discarded near Chaplin’s Fish & Chip shop, with its contents missing, reported Birmingham Live.

The thief was observed running along Regent Street and Elmers Avenue before boarding a Midland Metro tram at The Crescent, heading towards Birmingham. He disembarked after just one stop at Bilston Central and was last seen heading towards the Horse and Jockey pub.

West Midlands Police have issued a public appeal, sharing details of the incident and describing the suspect. The police spokesperson stated, “Do you recognize this man? We want to speak to him after a 45-year-old Bilston woman had her handbag stolen.” The victim suffered grazes to her hands during the incident.

The spokesperson further urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
